Itinerary
We depart Bujumbura city to Bugarama in the province of Muranvya, 34 km from the city of Bujumbura. On our journey, you can’t miss the sight of the beautiful mountains and the amazing nature in the Muranvya province and the surroundings. On arrival in this beautiful city, we will go to Kibira hotel where we will have continental breakfast at 8.30 am while enjoying the morning smooth weather and the garden view.
After breakfast, we continue our journey to the province of Gitega about 68 km from Bugarama. After a 20-minute drive, there you will visit a town that is well known as the houses of the kings and the struggles between the colonizers and the kings of Burundi. We expect to arrive in Gitega around 12:00Hrs.
We will visit the National Museum of Gitega where we will find the history of Burundi. And the city tour before we continue to the hotel for check-in. Later afternoon, we take a trip to the tourist site of Gishora which is located 7 km from the city center. Upon arrival, local drummers will first explain the history related to “ingoma” before going where they have prepared the drum show.
After the show, we will then go back to the hotel overnight.
Morning breakfast, before we start the tour of the southern part of the country. visit a place called Isimba, which is believed to be the best place in Burundi that has beautiful natural threes where you can take memorable pictures.
we will continue our journey to Rutana province, here you will see the amazing waterfalls, before heading to Bururi province to see the source of the Nile. This site has a special significance as it is the southernmost source of the Nile in the south. The source of the Nile was discovered by researchers who then built a pyramid which became a symbol of the origin of the Nile. we will make a trip to a small town called Matana where we will have lunch.
After lunch, we will head towards the city of Bujumbura and cross the called Mugamba district where find very old houses built of grass. During this journey, we will find the majestic hills dotted with breathtaking tea plantations. Only 10 kilometers from the city of Bujumbura lies a very high mountain; Nyamutenderi which gives good views of the whole city of Bujumbura, Lake Tanganyika, and the DRC mountains. The beauty of this place makes it a great picturesque zone.
